Oatmeal with raisins and honey


Portions for 1 serving:

1/2 cup of coarse oatmeal (not instant oatmeal)

1/2 pint water

1/4 tsp iodized salt

1/2 oz raisins secs "Thomson seedless"


This gives:

3/4 lbs of cooked oatmeal


3 tsp honey


1/2 cup half-skimmed milk


1 cup of half-skimmed milk to drink with the crem of wheat



The portions indicated are for a whole meal.

Heat water in the lower part of a double-boiler (or porridger) and bring the simmering. Cover with the upper part. Pour the 1/2 pint of water in the upper part and add the salt, the oatmeal and the raisins. Cover and stir from time to time with a fork. Let cook for 40mn.

When ready, pour the oatmeal of wheat in a soup plate and add milk and honey to sweeten it.

Beware: coarse oatmeal is NOT for young children.
